New Year New Shoes

January 03, 2020

On Friday, January 3rd over 150 homeless children living at the new Women & Family Development Center at Star of Hope’s Cornerstone Community received a brand new pair of shoes and socks to walk into 2020 with pride! The children, assisted by Trees of Hope members and volunteers, tired on and chose from a selection of pre-purchased shoes from Dick’s Sporting Goods that were funded by Kappa Kappa Gamma Charitable Foundation. Kids also got to enjoy crafts and refreshments provided by Raising Cane’s and a very special visit from the KSBJ Prayer Bear. The teens in Starz of 2morrow ministry were treated to an onsite shopping experience at Dick’s Sporting Goods along with lunch at Raising Cane’s. “We believe in the power of a new pair of shoes to boost a child’s self-image, and thus self-worth. The greatest gift you can give to a child is confidence, and we hope that by providing these shoes we can play a part in boosting the self-confidence of kids at Star of Hope. We are blessed to be able to do so,” Alina Schrom, Executive Director of Trees of Hope. A special thanks to the Kappa Kappa Gamma Charitable Foundation and Raising Cane’s for their generous partnership for this worthy event.
