Every January and August, Trees of Hope provides the opportunity for hundreds of children residing at Star of Hope to shop for a new pair of shoes. The children, aged 4-17, are assisted by Giving Tree members and other volunteers. While they shop, the children are treated to refreshments and entertainment. New shoes are something many of us take for granted, but for these young people, they represent a boost in self-confidence just in time for the first day of school.
Each year, more than 50 mothers residing at Star of Hope’s Transitional Living Center are treated to entertainment, gifts, and refreshments. Together, Trees of Hope volunteers and Board members create a memorable Mother’s Day for the mothers who are working so diligently towards a better life for themselves and their children.
For the past nine years Trees of Hope has volunteered and stocked toys for the Star of Hope Women & Family Emergency Shelter toy store. The toy store holds brand new toys that have been donated to the mission for children to receive for free upon arrival or for special occasions.
