Shoe Program

Since 2008, Trees of Hope has biannually, in January and August, hosted a shoe program to ensure all the children living at Star of Hope receive a brand new pair of shoes and socks. Our hope is to send each child off to school on the right foot.

Shopping for the Shoe Store

Prior to the shoe event, Trees of Hope members receive a list of the shoe sizes needed for all the children living at Star of Hope.

After receiving this list, Trees of Hope Jr. members and volunteers spend an afternoon shopping and selecting shoes to help create a special ‘shoe store’ at the Star of Hope facility.

Shoe Store

Following the shoe shopping day, volunteers will set up a ‘shoe store’ in the Star of Hope cafeteria. At the ‘shoe store’ volunteers assist the children by sizing them and helping them select a brand new pair of shoes.

While children are waiting for their turn at the ‘shoe store,’ volunteers will spend time with the children helping them with an art project and serving them lunch provided by Raising Canes.

Teenagers living at Star of Hope are given the experience to travel off site to a shoe store, where they are given a budget to shop and select their own pair of shoes. After picking out their new shoes, they are then taken to Raising Canes to enjoy lunch.
